2008 BAM (Battle at Midway) Triathalon...Ty's division: Clydesdale
aka: "Medium Husky"

At 4a.m. this morning Ty and I rolled out of bed after only sleeping for about 1 1/2-2 hrs. We arrived at Soldier Hollow at 5:30a.m., to set up Transition 2 which was the bike/run portion of the race. We then took the shuttle bus to Deer Creek where Ty was to put on his wetsuit to begin the dreadful mile long swim! Does anyone look happy in the first picture? I love how Ty is standing there with his arms folded looking out at the freezing lake. I'm pretty sure I knew what he was thinking!

Race started at 6:40a.m.
1. Swim:1 mile
2. Bike: 24 miles
3. Run: 6 miles

So much for Ty to look forward too!

LET THE RACE BEGIN...

As soon as the canon went off, Ty dove into 56* water. I have to admit, I was pretty nervous for him, I knew he could do it, I just felt bad for all the pain he'd feel! Ty said his whole body was just numb...you made me proud Tyler!

AND HE'S OFF...
As soon as Ty rode away, I jumped on the shuttle that took me and a whole bunch of other people to Soldier Hollow where I would meet up with him and the kids!

Waiting for Dad...

Julie was so sweet to take the kids for the night while Ty and I prepared for the big day. She and the kids arrived with pancakes around 7:45ish while Ty was on his 24 mile bike ride.

When Ty came in, of course we were so excited for him... the kids thought it was pretty cool watching daddy race! The last picture is of Ty putting his bike on the rack and changing shoes...GO DADDY GO!!!

GO! GO! GO! 2 DOWN 1 TO GO...

Ty was cramping up pretty bad at this point...with reassurance from his biggest fans, that he could do it...HE DID!

In 3 hrs. 22min. and 24 sec., Ty became an official... "Triathelete"

YOU DID IT TY...WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Ty never gave up, he just kept pushing himself and didn't quit! He is such a great example to our family! You made this Father's Day weekend very special, one we won't forget! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Madi's Act of Service...

Madi's friend's father has stage 4 colon cancer. Our school gathered together and put on a Fundraiser/Bake Sale to help this family. Madi was so excited to help and made sure I was up and ready at 6:30a.m. to go over and sell our famous Rhodes Rolls. I love Madi's willingness to help...she is so sweet! My sweet mother-in-law baked 200 rolls, we sold less than that and made $400... the rest of our rolls were donated to whoever won the David Archuleta picture and autograph, which auctioned off for over $100. Our hearts and prayers are with Megan and her family!
Madi is truly my best friend and I love everything about her (with or w/out teeth)! It's an honor to be her mom. Thanks for the memory Madi!

Thank you Brenda for always being there for me and my family. You are a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I love how crazy you are...you're the best dancer ever and thanks for always enjoying a nice cold soda with me...even if it's in a 2 liter! Your laugh is contagious and you always make me happy!
I hope you feel better...Luv ya!

Owen Being Sneaky....???
Owen got caught putting his fingers in his B-day cake...he says he was "cold." This is what he says everytime he gets caught or doesn't want to do something... for example:
Owen, it's time to go! Let's get in the car! ..."I'm cold"
Owen, please eat your dinner..."I'm cold"
Owen! STOP HITTING!..."I'm cold"
Please put your flip flops on..."I'm cold"

He used to say "I'm freezing," but things have changed and this is the new one...ok!
Anyway, this is the famous armfold and saying of our little boy....3 is a treat I'm tellin' ya!

Cheese!!!I love you Owen!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY O'DUBBERS!!!

Owen had been talking about having a skateboard party since Jacob's party in March and then last minute he decided he wanted a Lightning McQueen cake...what! So since we were planning to celebrate his birthday twice...this is what he got...and he was SO excited!
FYI: cake #1...easy because their cupcakes! Harmons Rocks!!!

LET THE SWIMMING BEGIN...
Owen loves to play in the pool and it's fun to watch, but he CAN'T be close to water without a life jacket on...he is TOOOOO brave. When we were in Cali, Ty took is jacket off and he just jumped into 5ft of water and didn't think twice about it...he is still doing this and it's freaking me out! SWIM LESSONS HERE WE COME!!!

Jacob LOVES to just play in the water with his life jacket on, sometimes he'll feel brave and take it off and practice with dad...keep up the good work Bubba!

My Little Mermaid!!

SCHOOLS OUT....YEAH!!!
So on the morning of Jacob's last day of school he was walking down the stairs saying "It's my last day of school, it's my last day of school", just repeating it. When I walked in his class to pick him up, he tossed his gifts to his teachers, grabbed his jacket and back pack and walked out the door saying "come on mom, let's go." I hope his teachers don't feel bad...he really did have fun and we both love Mrs. Dansie!

My shy little boy made some nice friends this year, which made me so happy for him. Tavin is the little boy in the pink shirt, he will be in Jacob's class next year...another reason for me to be HAPPY!

Jacob's School Program
He did such a good job signing and singing the songs at the same time! My favorite part was when he signed "I love you" and pointed to his teacher first, then realized he wanted to point at me. It was pretty cute!

Madi's Last Day Of School!

Madi's 1st grade teacher was Mrs. Reynolds. Madi had such a fun year with her. Madi's favorite memory of 1st grade was playing Clara in the Nutcracker! We love her and will miss her next year!
